Summary

Summary:  Under the direction of physician, performs first assistant surgical duties. Completes pre-op tasks including physical examinations and recording health history. Orders appropriate laboratory and radiographic tests. Participates in daily patient rounds, writes progress notes, conducts patient education, writes prescriptions, and prepares discharge summaries.  Potential on-call rotation required.  May cover multiple locations.

Education:     To qualify for this position, you must hold a master's degree of Health Sciences for Physician Assistants or related.  A graduate of an AMA-recognized physician assistant training program that is accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for physician assistant.  

Licensure: Candidate must have a current RI State Physician Assistant License and DEA.  Requires completion of the PANCE exam administered by National Commission of the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Requires Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C).

Experience: Candidates should have at least 3-5 years of experience and be able to provide documentation of procedures performed.
